Founder Story
Alexis Hughes-Williams is originally from Milwaukee, WI. She has always been involved in helping others, especially women. She started her first ‘organization’ at the age of 10, the 40th Street Boys & Girls Club and that graduated into who she is today. Alexis has served in many organizations such as Black Achievers of Milwaukee, Urban Underground, African American Children’s Theatre and Families United to Prevent Teen Pregnancy to name a few in leadership and mentoring capacities. Earning her degree from Tennessee State University in Marketing, Alexis has used her many talents and skills to start @SomethingSweetLLC a virtual and pop up bakery here in Nashville, and program, Girl, unKnown Inc.
@GirlunKnownInc began by Alexis volunteering her time at Job Corps of Wisconsin to empower, uplift and motivate young girls to adult women to be the best versions of themselves by introducing new books, resources, social and educational workshops and engagements. Now Girl, unKnown has blossomed into Girl, unKnown Inc. and has a created a community of women that connect and engage with each other to educate. We inspire growth and learn to be tolerant of others across all socioeconomic backgrounds, religions, creeds and orientations. Alexis is a visionary and a forerunner for change in her community, as she continues to be an advocate for women and peace.
Note From Alexis:
Hey there, Alexis here! A little about me, I love to cook, BAKE, write, dance, hang with my son and create things in general. To reconnect with my creativity is like returning home and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way. I’ve been baking since I was eight and I’m sharing that with my son, he likes to help in the kitchen (mostly to taste), but hey he’s a growing boy! Lol.
I love to surround myself with wonderful like-minded people with passion and drive to change the world for the better. Are you that person? I was bestowed the “Connector” mantle because I believe that if I can help enough people get what they want out of life, I too will flourish and reach my full potential and we can have more fun by doing it together. You are worthy. You can do it and we got this!
Thanks for visiting me today, let’s connect soon!
xo,
Alexis
